Jammu: On the eve of the Republic day celebrations in Srinagar 'unidentified' terrorists targeted a security vehicle by lobbing a grenade at the highly secured Hari Singh High Street injuring four persons including a police officer on Tuesday. The grenade attack was reported around 3.30 p.m.

Moving swiftly the security personnel cordoned off the entire area to track down the foot prints of the terrorists who might have lobbed a grenade taking advantage of the heavy rush in the area.

Window panes of several shops located in the area were broken while chaos prevailed in the area till security personnel restored order by channelising smooth movement of

vehicles.

Confirming the total number of injuries, a twitter handle of Srinagar police advised local residents to remain vigilant and inform nearest security personnel on noticing any suspicious movement.

"All civilians are advised to be vigilant in view of today’s grenade attack that caused minor splinter injuries to four Locals. Please bring any suspicious movement/person to the notice of nearest Security personnel. Let’s spoil the nefarious designs of anti-social elements".

Meanwhile, the security personnel continue to maintain round the clock vigil across vital installations to prevent any terrorist attack.
