Wed 29 Jun 2022, 10:39:34
This year’s theme is Data for Sustainable Development.  Union Government has been celebrating Statistics Day on 29th June every year since 2007 to mark the birth anniversary of late Professor Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, in recognition of his valuable contribution in the field of Economic Planning and Statistics.

The major objective of celebrating Statistics Day is creation of public awareness, especially among the

younger generation, on the role and importance of statistics in socio-economic planning and policy formulation for development of the country.

On each Statistics Day, one particular theme of current national importance is chosen for intensive and focused discussions towards filling the data gaps and improvement in data collection, processing and dissemination.
