Ministry of Electronics and IT has said that 200 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions were carried out in January this year. So far holders have carried out over nine thousand crore authentication transactions so far out of which nearly 200 crores took place in January indicating the growth of digital economy in the country. The Ministry said a majority of the authentications transaction numbers were carried out by
using biometric fingerprint.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has already rolled out a new security mechanism for Aadhaar-based fingerprint authentication. It said, by the end of January, Aadhaar saturation among all age groups has climbed up to 94.65 percent and the saturation level among the adult population is now near universal.
