A 17-year-old boy has been killed allegedly following a dispute in a football match at Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district, with police detaining three persons in connection with the incident, an officer said on Tuesday.
The alleged crime took place on Monday, and the deceased has been identified as Prosenjit Biswas, he said. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may have been linked to a dispute following a football match, the officer said.
A football match was
held at Sitakundu ground in Baruipur on Monday, with local youths participating, he said. "Prosenjit's team won the match, following which he was allegedly targeted by a group of youths. While returning home, he was allegedly intercepted by three persons who attacked him with sharp weapons," the officer said.
"Three persons have been detained in connection with the incident. We are questioning them and examining all aspects of the case. The exact motive behind the attack is being investigated," he said.
