15 Flights Diverted As Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Lash Delhi

As many as 15 flights bound for Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were diverted on Monday after heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the national capital, disrupting air traffic and causing waterlogging and traffic snarls across several areas. 

Of the 15 diverted flights, 12 were redirected to Jaipur, two to Chandigarh and one to Lucknow. Three of the flights diverted to Jaipur were international services.

Commuters took to social media to report traffic snarls and waterlogging in



several parts of the city, as rain disrupted normal movement during the day. 

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung on Monday, 1.4 degrees above normal. 

The Ridge recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the city at 24 degrees Celsius. 

The weather conditions are expected to continue affecting travel and traffic in the capital as heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds remain forecast in parts of Delhi.
