In a show of unity and strategic planning, nearly 50 senior leaders of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc gathered over a high-profile dinner diplomacy event on Thursday. At the event, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, presented what he described as “concrete evidence” of widespread electoral rigging, directly accusing the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP to manufacture a victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
At the core of the event was a detailed presentation by Rahul Gandhi titled “Democracy Destroyed,” in which he briefed the INDIA bloc leadership on alleged booth-level electoral frauds.
The presentation was briefed to nearly 50 top INDIA bloc leaders during a high-level strategy meeting, and later to the press at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi. The detailed presentation, based on months of data analysis, spotlighted alleged manipulation in the Mahadevpura Assembly segment of the Bengaluru
Central Lok Sabha constituency, where over 1,00,250 fake votes were created.
The dinner meeting, which brought together top brass from various INDIA bloc allies, was also crucial in setting the narrative for the upcoming electoral battles. The alliance resolved to target what they described as election fraud through intensified booth-level strategy and mobilisation.
Rahul Gandhi's presentation formed the basis for a consensus to launch a march to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on August 11. This planned march will serve as the coalition's formal protest and demand for electoral transparency.
The Congress leader asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi owes his position to just 25 Lok Sabha seats won by margins of under 33,000 votes, and that rigging in specific constituencies had tilted the final outcome. “This is not just electoral malpractice—it’s a crime against the Indian Constitution,” he said.
