US President Donald Trump on Wednesday expressed confidence about a strong trade agreement with India and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “fantastic leader,” during remarks made at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Speaking to Indian media, Trump said India and the United States would strike a favourable deal. “Will have a great deal with India,” he said, underlining optimism on bilateral trade ties.
Trump also spoke warmly about his
relationship with the Indian Prime Minister. “I have great respect for your Prime Minister.

Trade talks between India and the US fell apart and Trump then doubled tariffs on Indian goods in August to 50%, among the world's highest rates, including a levy of 25% to punish New Delhi for purchasing Russian oil.
