An Israeli soldier was lightly wounded during a riot that broke out during a pre-dawn raid in a central West Bank village on Sunday, the army said.

In the early hours of the morning, a group of Israeli soldiers entered the Palestinian village of Nahalin, southwest of Bethlehem.

“A violent riot broke out during which Palestinians attacked the soldiers and threw rocks at them. The soldiers responded with riot-dispersal measures and live fire,” the Israel Defense Forces said.

“An IDF soldier was lightly wounded, received treatment at the

scene and was taken to the hospital for medical care,” the military said.

During the Nahalin raid, the IDF soldiers arrested two people, an army spokesperson said.

Elsewhere in the West Bank on Saturday night and early Sunday morning, Israeli troops arrested five other Palestinian suspects.

The IDF said they were believed to have taken part in terrorist activities or participated in rock throwing and other types of low-level violence.

The seven suspects were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for questioning.
