LONDON: Saudi Arabia will hold to account those responsible for journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s killing and those who failed in their duties, whoever they are, the Saudi cabinet said after a meeting chaired by King Salman on Tuesday.

During a cabinet meeting on Tuesday chaired by King Salman, the Kingdom vowed it will "hold accountable all those who have failed in their duties no matter who they may be," read a statement published by the Saudi Press Agency.

“The measures embody the interest of the kingdom’s leadership and its keenness for the safety of all the country’s citizens, and their determination that these measures will not stop at holding those accountable and directly responsible, but also to include corrective measures in this regard.”

The Cabinet noted that King Salman had ordered the formation of a ministerial committee, headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to restructure the general intelligence



agency.

Also during the meeting, the Saudi King went through the content of a phone call between his royal highness and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. 

As well as discussing the outcome of his talks with Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina Wajed, and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, and the message received from President Joao Lourenco of Angola.

The Cabinet stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded on an approach derived from the Islamic Sharia whose provisions are based on achieving the right, enhancing the pillars and values of justice and its criteria and strengthening its foundations. 

Meanwhile, Minister of Culture and Information, Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency that the Cabinet session expressed appreciation for King Salman's patronage of the 2nd Session of the Global Forum "Future Investment Initiative 2018" being held in Riyadh.
