US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump is likely to visit India in the early months of next year, highlighting the strength of India-US ties and the close relationship between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to news agency IANS at the White House, Rubio said he expects to travel to India before the end of this year to prepare for Trump's visit.

"We're hoping. That's what

we're working towards sometime early next year to have the President come," Rubio said, adding that he looks forward to returning to India to help finalise arrangements for the visit.

Rubio described the India-US partnership as being in a "very positive" phase following the recent meeting between Trump and PM Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. He said both leaders share a close personal rapport, which has further strengthened bilateral relations.
