In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's party is leading in the parliamentary election, according to preliminary results released by the electoral body.

The Central Election Commission said Servant of the People has won 43.10 per cent of the vote as 90.89 per cent of ballots are counted so far.

The Opposition Platform - For Life party comes second with 12.94 per cent of votes, followed by former President Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity with 8.18 per cent.

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's Fatherland party also got 8.18 per cent of vote and rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk's the Voice party won 5.92 per cent of vote
The President's party said it is on course to win about 250 of parliament's 450 seats.

It will also be the best result by any party in Ukraine's post-1991 history.

On Sunday, only 424 seats in the parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, were contested in the snap elections. Those seats not included represent the war-torn Donbas region and Crimea.
