Philippines govt orders evacuation of thousands in eastern coastal region ahead of Typhoon Vamco landfall

The Philippines Government has ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents in eastern coastal region ahead of the landfall of Typhoon Vamco.

 

According to the Philippines Weather agency, Vamco has intensified further prior to its first landfall in the vicinity of Patnanungan, Quezon province around, this evening, while continuously unleashing destructive winds and intense rains within its periphery. It further d that



Vamco made its third landfall in the vicinity of General Nakar, Quezon late last night. 

 

Vamco, with maximum sustained winds of 155 kilometres per hour near the centre and gustiness of up to 255 kilometres per hour, is the 21st tropical storm hitting the Philippines this year.

 

The Philippines sees around 20 tropical storms annually.
