Pentagon Fires Senior Officer Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield Over Leadership Concerns

In the USA, the Pentagon announced that senior officer Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, assigned to NATO, has been fired. The Pentagon yesterday said her removal was due to a loss of confidence in her ability to lead. Chatfield has been the US military representative to NATO since 2023 and has had a distinguished naval career, including being the first woman to serve as president of the Naval War College. She is one of several



top-ranking female military officials who have been fired in recent weeks.

At the same time, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to lead the US Navy, was also being removed from her post. Earlier, the first woman to lead the Coast Guard, Linda Fagan, was fired shortly after Trump took office in January.
