Operations resume at Hong Kong

Operations resumed at Hong Kong airport early this morning hour after protests shut down the travel hub. All flights in and out of Hong Kong were cancelled yesterday, as thousands of anti-government pro-democracy demonstrators entered into the airport. In a statement, the airport authority had said, the operations at Hong Kong International Airport have been seriously disrupted as a result of the public assembled at the airport.

The United States is continuing to monitor developments in Hong Kong and urges all sides to refrain from violence. A Trump administration official yesterday, said after anti-government protesters and police toughened their stances amid weekend skirmishes. The official said societies are best served when diverse political views are respected and can be freely and peacefully expressed. Trump has so far been muted on the growing unrest in Hong Kong, saying it is an internal affair for China, while acknowledging that the protesters are looking for democracy.
