A small plane crashed into a house in Dutchess County on Saturday, killing at least one of the three men on board, authorities said.

The crash also critically injured a woman who was in the home, which was destroyed in the raging blaze that followed, authorities said.

Another man believed to have been in the house was unaccounted for.

The pilot, who had taken off from Orange County airport, was planning to land at Sky Acres field in LaGrangeville, where he would



refuel for a flight to Long Island’s Republic Airport, according to the Southwest Dutchess Daily Voice.

The Cessna 303 developed engine trouble at about 4:30 p.m. crashing in the rural community of Union Vale, about 16 miles east of Poughkeepsie.

Three dogs — two Golden Retrievers and a Newfoundland, who lived in the house — were missing. It as not known whether they were killed or managed to flee.

Victim names were being withheld pending family notification.
