Tensions flared once again in West Asia as Kuwait's Army on Monday announced that its air defence systems were intercepting hostile missile and drone attacks.
In a post on X, the Army said, "The Kuwaiti air defenses are currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks." It added that any explosion sounds heard by residents were the result of air defence systems intercepting the incoming threats.
"Everyone is requested to adhere to the security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities," the statement
said.
The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions, even as the United States and Iran continue discussions on a possible peace agreement. Kuwait's air defences were also activated against hostile missile and drone attacks on May 28.
As the security situation in West Asia and the Gulf region remains volatile, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah held a phone conversation with Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
