Comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly launched cafe in Canada, Kap’s Cafe, came under attack late Wednesday night after unidentified assailants opened fire at the building where it is located in Surrey, British Columbia.

Khalistani terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi has claimed responsibility for the firing. Laddi, a most-wanted terrorist listed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), is linked to the banned group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

According to sources, Laddi cited one of Kapil Sharma’s past remarks as the reason behind the attack.

The assailants reportedly arrived in a car and fled soon after. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

According to Canadian journalist Sameer Kaushal, around 12 bullets were fired at the restaurant. He

shared a video report on X and showed the bullet marks on the glass windows.

In his video, Sameer Kaushal showed that the building where the cafe is situated is a residential area and there is a children's daycare in front of the cafe.

It is still unclear whether Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, was the intended target or if the firing was meant as a threat directed at the comedian.

The comedian's hit show, Kapil Sharma Show Season 3, recently premiered on Netflix on June 21. The first episode featured Salman Khan, followed by the cast of Metro In Dino in the second. Indian cricketers graced the third episode, while the upcoming fourth episode, airing this Saturday, will feature popular OTT stars including Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Pratik Gandhi, and Jeetendra Kumar.
