She has been disseminating knowledge and good values for the last 25 years in the UAE, Started as a school teacher in 1995 with Our Own English High School in Dubai, Prof. Susan Ninan, now at 57, decided to shift back to India. With a heavy heart, she is packing her bags to leave the country that changed her fate and had given her a healthy, prosperous and happy life.
"Twenty five years in UAE, we had built a world around us in all areas. The advantages were plentiful - both my husband and I have enjoyed our career, immense possibilities. We landed here soon, after the Kuwait invasion. My husband's company had temporarily been set up here. As luck would have it, we created a niche here.
"I have taken up a job in school (to be with my school going children) in the beginning. Without realising it, teaching has become a passion and when Dubai has grown into an educational hub, it has taken me to greater heights. I taught at the university level over a period of 15 years, covering most of the emirates, taught many nationalities.
"I am extremely proud of the fact that my student fraternity includes many UAE nationals who are occupying higher positions. I take pride in the fact that I contributed in imparting knowledge to many," said Prof. Susan.
An avid traveller, Prof Susan loves shopping in Dubai as she thinks the vibrant city has it all in terms of brands, fashion and trend. Clothes and fashion are a passion for her and shopping gives her lots of happiness and satisfaction.
She said: "Travelling and shopping are the two things I have enjoyed in this beautiful land. I have shopped in

almost all possible outlets. I have an innermost instinct to look for the value for money whether its clothes, furniture, essentials. It was fun realising the fact that you don't need too much money at your disposal. Being in a place in the heart of the world, UAE has given us plenty of opportunities to travel - Malaysia, Singapore, in the East, Kenya, Europe and a long list in the bucket list too."
As a teacher, she believes, UAE is the perfect place for children to grow and learn because they get to learn about so many cultures and countries at one place. According to her the multi-cultural environment of this country has prepared her children to face the challenges of life and mingle with other people of other communities as well.
One thing that she will cherish about the UAE is the freedom women enjoy here.
She added: "This place is superb in terms of safety and security residents get here especially the fairer gender. I am changing residence for some personal reasons; given a choice I would have spent rest of my life in UAE only."
Like a camera, she has captured all the good memories and time spent in UAE, that she will keep with herself for the rest of her life.
She said: "I remember the excitement of my kids' childhood days to skate in Al Nasr Leisure land, best day out was Safa Park, the excitement of going to Encounter Zone at Wafi, watching channel 33, popular reading material was Young Times. And DSF was the best event, Deira City Centre and the tallest building in town was the World Trade Centre. Years just slipped without noticing. Love you UAE, Love you Dubai forever! Goodbye!
