Indian Woman Places Lamp on Melbourne Street 'Black Magic Fears'

A video showing a woman carrying a small lamp and placing it at a T-intersection on Knowsley Avenue in Tarneit, Melbourne’s western suburbs, has sparked criticism. 

The incident reportedly took place on Saturday evening and was captured on CCTV. In the footage, the woman can be seen carrying the lamp before placing it in the middle of the road at the intersection. She was accompanied by a man during the incident.

resident, Gurjeet, who viewed the CCTV footage, reportedly shared it with local news outlet Wyndham TV, expressing concern over the incident. He speculated that the act could be connected to a ritual and raised concerns about the possibility of black magic. 

The video has since drawn attention on social media, with several netizens criticising the act and expressing concern that such incidents could create negative perceptions about the Indian community.
