The Forward Seaman Union of India (FSUI) has raised the alarm over 13 Indian seafarers trapped aboard a cargo vessel caught in the conflict zone near Ukraine's Chornomorsk port, amid repeated drone and missile attacks in the area.

The union said the vessel, MV Amir1, is carrying a 15-member crew, including 13 Indian nationals, and remains stranded near the port as strikes continue in the vicinity. FSUI

described the situation as "terrible and life-threatening" for the crew on board.

In an X post, the union shared video footage showing plumes of smoke rising near the vessel, underscoring the danger the crew currently faces.

FSUI has appealed to the Union government, the ship's owners, the vessel's flag state, and other concerned authorities to take immediate steps to secure the crew's evacuation.
