Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi group has rejected allegations that it launched a drone towards Saudi Arabia's Medina region, after the Saudi-led military coalition claimed to have intercepted and destroyed an unmanned aircraft over the area.
The denial comes amid escalating regional tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israeli war, with cross-border attacks targeting petroleum facilities, military installations and aviation infrastructure across the region.
Medina holds immense religious significance for Muslims
as the location of the Prophet's Mosque and the second-holiest city in Islam after Mecca.
It attracts millions of pilgrims every year, particularly during Haj and Umrah. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree denied that the group had conducted any military operation against Saudi territory.
"The Yemeni Armed Forces affirm that they have not carried out any operation directed towards the Saudi interior," Saree said in a social media post, describing Riyadh's claim about the intercepted drone as fabricated.
