In another incident involving the killing of a Hindu man in Bangladesh, Shomir Kumar Das, a resident of Daganbhuiyan upazila in Feni district, was murdered on January 11.

According to Feni Police Superintendent Shafiqul Islam, the victim had left home in his autorickshaw on Sunday night but later went missing. His body was recovered around 2 am.

“Shomir Kumar Das had gone out with his auto-rickshaw after 8 pm that night, but after that, there was no trace of him. It was only after 2 am that his body was found,”

Shafiqul Islam told media over the phone.

Police officials reached the spot, recovered the body and completed all necessary legal formalities. A case has been registered in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway.

Citing the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Amit Malviya on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Bangladesh interim government over alleged killings of religious minorities, claiming that “minority lives do not matter” in the country.
