Heavy rain forecast; precautions in place

JEDDAH — Local authorities across the Kingdom have taken precautionary measures following the forecast of heavy rain and thunder.

Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah and adviser to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, underscored the significance of making preparations and arrangements in advance to deal with any situation. He made the remarks while chairing a meeting at his office in Jeddah on Wednesday.

The emir stressed the need to activate the role of the agencies in the joint operation room under the Crisis and



Tragedy Management Center at the governorate in tackling any rain-related emergency situation.

The Jeddah Mayoralty has completed the maintenance and cleaning of the rainwater drainage system and ensured the preparedness of water pumps in addition to mobilizing 8,600 engineers, technicians and workers.

The Civil Defense Department, police and the health department have also completed their preparations.

The Riyadh Region Mayoralty has mobilized 1,200 officials and workers to handle the situation.
