External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar reached Panama yesterday. The Minister began his visit by paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi at the Cinco de Mayo square in Panama city. He met those working for the National Civil Protection System and Indian community members there. Dr Jaishankar said, they are the living bridge between our nations.

He also called on Panama President Nito Cortizo. Dr Jaishankar conveyed the personal greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The External Affairs Minister said, Mr Cortizo's strong resonance with PM Modi’s ‘Panch Prann’ reflects the strength of our Global South bonds and shared outlook for the world.

Jaishankar held discussions with Foreign Minister of Panama Janaina Tewaney  Mencomo. He said, the shared political values and economic outlook of India and Panama encourages cooperation across multiple domains.

Later speaking to media, the External Affairs Minister said, they discussed stronger business to business ties, connectivity, health and pharma, energy and green hydrogen, semiconductors and mobility. They also noted the close collaboration in multilateral fora. He said, the discussions in this regard will continue.

Dr Jaishankar also delivered the keynote address at the India-Latin America Business event.
