Donald Trump registered a massive win over his opponent Nikki Haley in South Carolina in a bid to win the Republican presidential nomination.

The victory in Haley's home state by a 20-point margin, is former president's fourth in continuation.

In his celebratory speech, Trump vowed to stay in the race, setting his sights on the general election in November. He lauded his party's unity saying, there has never been a spirit like this. He said he has never seen the Republican Party so unified.

Ms Haley, who once served as a popular two-term governor of South

Carolina, congratulated her opponent on his victory in her speech. At the same time she promised not to quit. She said, huge numbers of voters in Republican primaries say they want an alternative. She emphasised that her continued campaign was not about her own political ambitions. She said, she would not give up the fight when a majority of Americans disapprove of both Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Haley has re-committed to staying in the race until at least Super Tuesday - 5 March - when voters in 16 states will cast their ballots on the same day.
