The crude oil tanker MT Sanmar Herald successfully berthed at Paradip Port’s Single Point Mooring (SPM-I), concluding a high-risk voyage from Iraq marked by hostile conditions in the Middle East.

Carrying Basrah Medium and Basrah Heavy crude oil, the vessel arrived safely after sustaining shrapnel damage to its bridge during a hostile engagement while transiting near the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Paradip Port Authority, the tanker operated in continuous coordination with the Indian Navy

and endured delays and operational challenges amid escalating tensions in the region.

Describing it as “a journey of courage and resilience,” port authorities said the vessel berthed at 11:30 hrs on July 1, marking the successful completion of a voyage through one of the most challenging geopolitical situations in recent times.

Despite the adversities, the Master and crew demonstrated exceptional professionalism and commitment to safety, ensuring that all personnel remained unharmed throughout the mission.
