90,000 expats to return to India by end of June

Around 90,000 Indians stranded in the UAE will return to their families in India by the end of June after both the UAE and Indian governments agreed to increase the flights between the two countries, the Indian embassy said on Saturday.
As many as 450,000 Indians registered electronically for returning to their country through the embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian consulate in Dubai, the embassy added.
Effective from June 20, daily flights will be increased by 4 flights till the end of the month over and above the 80 already existing flights, the embassy said, noting that last Wednesday, some 3,000 Indians returned to their country, the figure is the highest since return operations

started.
The embassy pointed out that priority for return would be given to the elderly and pregnant women who lost their jobs as well as those with critical diseases, the embassy said, noting that airline ticket prices ranges between Dhs750 and Dhs1,200.
The embassy launched a new passport system for Indians in the UAE, through which applications are submitted electronically via BLS visa offices for those above 60 years and less than 12 years of age as well as pregnant women and people of determination.
The required documents should be attached to the applications and applicants need not visit the offices so that they can maintain their safety.
