An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck near the Gerash city in southern Iran today. 

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake occurred at a shallow depth of around 10



kilometers. 

No serious damage or casualties has been reported so far. Southern Iran is part of a seismically active zone known as the Zagros belt, where earthquakes are common due to tectonic movement.
