Yet another gas leak at a workers' accommodation created panic in Sharjah on Friday morning, On Thursday, the Sharjah authorities had averted a major gas leak disaster in Industrial Area 4.
A loud explosion was reported from the warehouse of a company, that deals in importing and exporting of chlorine gas, created pandemonium and panic in the area. A day after, on Friday, 162 workers experienced suffocation due to gas leak at a workers' accommodation in Industrial Area 10.
The police received a call early morning Friday about the incident in the Industrial Area 10 and



immediately dispatched a rescue unit to the site. The civil defence team also arrived to prevent any untoward fire tragedy.
An official at the Sharjah Municipality said that the accommodation has no proper ventilation and the leak did not cause any major pollution. Mohammed Shabaz, manager at Sabir Ali Metal Scrap Trading in Sharjah Industrial Area 10, said the affected workers returned to work, except for a few who experience breathing problems.
The police launched an investigation to determine the cause of the leak, which belongs to a construction company based in Sharjah.
