The State Government gave its nod for conducting elections to Zilla Parishads and Mandal Parishads whose term is nearing completion. The elections are likely to be held from April 22 to May 14, while the results will be declared after announcement of Lok Sabha poll results.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao held discussions with the officers concerned on Friday at Pragathi Bhavan in this regard and asked the officials to conduct the elections after obtaining necessary permissions from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The State Election Commission (SEC) sent its proposals to the State government expressing its preparedness for conducting Mandal Parishad and Zilla Parishad elections a few days ago. The ECI also cleared the proposal and asked the State Election Commission to initiate necessary measures in this regard.
