Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced ambitious plans to ensure year-round water flow in the Musi River.
The government has invited global tenders for consultants to guide the Musi rejuvenation project, and three companies have joined forces under a joint venture to execute the restoration.
Under the plan, 20 TMC of Godavari water will be
diverted to the city, with 15 TMC earmarked to meet Hyderabad residents’ drinking water needs and another 5 TMC planned for Gandipet. The estimated cost for diverting Godavari waters is Rs 7,000 crore.
Development work will focus on the confluence of the Musi, Esi, and Godavari rivers. The Chief Minister said that within the next two years, Godavari waters will reach Gandipet.
