Bhongir: Devotees visiting Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Yadadri will have to adhere to a dress code from June 1. This rule is exempted for those coming for darshan in the general queue. The dress code is mandatory for devotees participating in Arjitha Sevas, Nitya Kalyanam, Sudarshana Narasimha Homam, and Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham and for VIP darshan, temple’s executive officer Bhaskar Rao said. The move was aimed at protecting the famed temple’s sanctity and decorum. The dress code is in vogue across many temples including the Tirumala Lord Venkateswara temple.

As per the dress code, women can wear a sari or chudidar with chunni. Male devotees should wear dhoti or white lungi and Uthareeyam. Those in shorts, jeans, T-shirts,

skirts, and modern dresses, would not be permitted into the temple. As a model, the temple employees have been following the dress code for the last couple of months. Stating that there would be a ban on plastic items on the hill shrine, he appealed to the devotees to only use eco-friendly bags.

Meanwhile, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple witnessed a huge rush of devotees (estimated at 70, 000) on Sunday. It took four hours for devotees to get general darshan and two hours for VIP darshan. As the parking area on the hill shrine was packed, many personal vehicles, cars, and others were forced to wait in a kilometer-long queue on the road. Police swung into action and cleared the traffic jam.
