Woman, minor son died after consuming poison in Meerpet

A woman and her minor son died after allegedly consuming unknown poison in a suspected case of family dispute at Hastinapuram in Meerpet on Thursday late night.

The woman’s mother survived a suicide attempt and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

As per information available, the incident took place at Jaya Krishna Enclave in Hastinapuram.

Sushmitha (27), wife of Yashwanth Reddy, is believed to have given poison to her



10-year-old son, Yashwanth Nanda Reddy, before taking her own life. The child also succumbed.

The situation worsened when Sushmitha’s mother, Lalitha, who found the two unresponsive at home, allegedly consumed poison in a state of shock. 

She was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where her condition is reported to be stable.

The Meerpet police reached the spot and shifted the bodies of the woman and the child for autopsy.
