Hyderabad: A 45-year-old woman is being held captive at her Arab employer's residence in Riyadh since two months. Ms Khairun Bee, a resident of Talabkatta, was approached by travel agent Ali Shah Basha and his sister regarding a job in Riyadh in December 2016.
The woman agreed as she had a handicapped son who was not in a position to work, said Mr Amjadullah Khan. He added, “The agent and his sister lured the woman and five others. They were taken to Mumbai on December 14, 2016 and from there to New Delhi and Riyadh. Khairun Bee was asked to work in four houses as a maid.”
After reaching Saudi the woman lost touch with her family, and whenever her daughter Hameeda Begum approached the agent told them that she was well. “But after two months a lady called me from abroad said that my mother was ill with high blood sugar and thyroid

problems and was in hospital. The agent demanded Rs 2 lakh to bring her back,” said Hameeda Begum.
She added, “No salary was paid to my mother from the time she started working. We have doubts about the condition of the other women as they have to work in 4-5 houses, and it’s taking a heavy toll of their health. They are also not paid. We have urged the police to take action against the agent and bring back my mother.”
When contacted DCP V. Satyanarayana said, “We have received a complaint from Hameeda Begum and have forwarded it to Bhavani Nagar police station. We have also formed teams to nab the agent.”
The agents are not only from Hyderabad, but also from Mumbai and New Delhi. Airport officials are also involved. I discussed the issue with the commissioner, and soon we will form special teams to nab the culprits,” V. Satyanarayana added.
