The Mahankali Police have started an investigation into a cheating case in which a woman allegedly duped more than 100 devotees by promising Srivari Seva and Sarva Darshan at the Tirumala temple, allegedly using fake tickets during the recent Vaikuntha Ekadashi rush.

According to reports, the woman identified as Mamatha, a resident of Bhoiguda in Secunderabad, gained the confidence of devotees by claiming she had access to temple services

and could arrange confirmed darshan. She allegedly collected money towards Seva, darshan and travel expenses.

In one instance, devotees were also taken to Tirumala and made to wait for several days without darshan. In another case, devotees were sent tickets in advance, which temple officials later confirmed were fake, forcing them to return without entering the shrine.

Based on a complaint, a case has been registered.
