A 22-year-old woman approached the Uppal police alleging harassment by a man who spread false claims that she was his wife despite no marriage taking place.

The woman, a resident of Ramanthapur, stated in her complaint on Thursday that her relative, Sai Charan, had been pressuring her for the past one year to marry him. When she refused, he started harassing her. She accused

him of damaging her reputation by introducing her as his wife to family members and friends.

According to the complaint, the harassment escalated on March 28 when the accused made repeated phone calls late at night and issued threats, leaving the woman distressed and fearful.

Based on the complaint, the Uppal police have booked a case and are investigating.
