In a shocking incident, a tribal woman was allegedly assaulted by forest department staff at Manubotlagudem village in Aswapuram mandal of Pinapaka constituency in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

The incident has sparked widespread criticism after videos showing a confrontation between forest department staff and the tribal woman went viral on social media.

The incident is linked

to the long-standing dispute over podu (forest cultivation) lands, which has remained a major issue between tribal communities and the government. Tribal families say that the land and forests are their primary source of livelihood.

Several people have criticised the government, saying it is giving forest land for industries while failing to protect the rights and livelihoods of tribal communities.
