Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar on Wednesday said that the State government had initiated steps that would make Telangana farmers role models for the entire nation.

Eashwar inaugurated Rythu Vedikas, Palle Prakruthi Vanams and CC roads in Rahavapatnam, Sriramulapalli, and Venugumatla of Gollapalli mandal on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the state government was committed to the welfare of farmers. In order to extend support to farmers by providing technical support, 2,061 Rythu Vedikas have been constructed across the State by spending Rs 600 crore, he added.
Before 2014, farmers used to cultivate paddy in only 30 lakh acres.

However, it grew to 1.30 crore lakh acres in the last few years and it was materialised only because of various steps being implemented for the welfare of the farming community.

Besides 24 hours current supply, water was being

supplied to agricultural lands by completing irrigation projects, he said and added that Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme was completed within a span of three and half years.

“In order to provide financial support to farmers, Rythu Bandhu is being provided. Despite the financial crisis due to Covid outbreak, the State government has deposited Rs 15,000 crore as Rythu Bandhu amount in the bank accounts of farmers. Per year, Rs 1,200 crore was spent for Rythu Bhima to provide insurance facilities to farmers,” he informed.

Despite the corona pandemic, no welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, Kalyanalaxmi, Shaadi Mubarak, Aasara pensions and others were stopped, he said

While Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was taking steps for the welfare of farmers, the Union government was trying to create confusion among the farming community through its new farm acts, he said.
