A 28-year-old carpenter succumbed to injuries in a road mishap and his colleague sustained grievous injuries after a speeding water tanker rammed their motorcycle near Puppalaguda Toll Gate under the Narsingi police station limits on Tuesday night. 

The tanker subsequently collided with a car and a scooter before being stopped. The deceased was identified as Sushil Kumar, 28, a native of Banda district in Uttar Pradesh. 

He and his co-worker Suresh, both residing at Laxmiguda in Katedan and employed as



carpenters, were returning home after completing work at an apartment in Hafeezpet when the accident occurred around 8 pm.

According to police, the water tanker driven at high speed in a rash and negligent manner by Ranjit Sinha, hit their motorcycle from behind. Kumar died on the spot while Suresh suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a hospital.

The water tanker has a history of traffic violations as Telangana police records show eight pending challans worth Rs 11,680, including six cases at Narsingi traffic police station.
