Installation and maintenance work for a 33 KV outdoor Vacuum Circuit Breaker (VCB) at the Kalabgur electricity substation, part of the Manjira project supplying drinking water to the Hyderabad metropolitan area, led to disruption in certain areas of Hyderabad on August 5.

“The work is to be carried out on August 5, from 10 am to 4 pm, and is expected to cause partial or complete disruption to drinking water supply in some localities during the six-hour period,” according to a press release issued by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on Monday.

Areas likely to be



affected included: Ramachandrapuram (R C Puram), Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Hafeezpet, Madinaguda and Miyapur, Beeramguda, Ameenpur, Bhagyanagar Colony, BHEL Factory, BHEL Township, HCY and bulk drinking water connections in the industrial area and off-take points, and bulk drinking water connections were expected to face disruption, it said.

The officials of the Water Board asked consumers to store sufficient drinking water in advance and to use water judiciously during the interruption. The normal supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance work was completed, according to the press release.
