The heavy rains that have been lashing Hyderabad city and the surrounding districts for the last week has resulted in water bodies receiving a large water inflows.
Apart from the lakes in the city and also those that dot the suburbs, the twin reservoirs of Himayat sagar and Osman sagar which supplied drinking water to the Hyderabad city for decades have been recording high inflow of rain water.
The catchment
areas receiving good rainfall in the last week has resulted in fresh inflows into the twin reservoirs and water levels rising.
According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) which has been closely monitoring the water bodies, Osmansagar at around 8 am on Wednesday recorded water levels of 1,782 feet while it’s full tank level (FTL) is 1,790 feet. The fresh inflows have been estimated to be around 50 cusecs.
