Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner M Dana Kishore said that the 30-MW solid waste-to-energy plant at Jawaharnagar dump yard will commence operations in a month.

Every day, nearly 7,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste is generated in the city, which would be utilised for generating power at Jawaharnagar plant. Meanwhile, the capping works at the dump yard were progressing at a brisk pace, he said. of technology, Hyderabad was setting an example to other Metros in terms of solid waste management, said Kishore while interacting with 15 corporators from Patna Municipal Corporation here on Friday.

Earlier, the delegation from Patna, Bihar, met Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, who explained to them about the initiatives and policies being taken up by GHMC. He briefed them on housing scheme, Strategic Road Development Programme, generating funds through municipal bonds and others, said a press release.
