The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is supplying drinking water through pipeline lines from distant areas to the Greater Hyderabad extending up to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) along with GHMC, after incurring significant expenses and efforts.
Officials of the Water Board have come to notice that in some areas, consumers are illegally attaching motors to their drains. Due to this, water supply to the remaining consumers is being supplied with low pressure.
As it is crime, the Water Board vigilance officials conducted inspections.
They seized motors that are illegally drawing water by directly attaching electric motors
to the Water Board pipelines.
On Wednesday, locals provided information to vigilance officials that motors are being attached to drains in SRT Colony, within the limits of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) division in SR Nagar.
In response, the officials visited during water supply time and seized seven motors that were illegally attached to the pipeline.
“If any consumers are caught attaching motors to their drains in this manner, actions will be taken against them as per Water Board regulations, along with seizing motors. If caught second time attaching motors, a fine of Rs.5,000 will be imposed and cases will be registered,” officials said.
