The United Phule Front (UPF) will now function as an affiliate of Telangana Jagruti, as part of efforts for a unified fight for the implementation of increased BC reservations in Telangana.
BRS MLC K Kavitha made the announcement on Sunday, following a joint meeting of Telangana Jagruti and UPF leaders at the former’s office.
A new executive committee of the UPF was constituted, with Bolla Sivashankar as convener, Alakunta Hari as coordinator and Gattu Ramachandra Rao as advisor, alongside 50 co-conveners.
Kavitha recalled that it was through sustained joint movements by Telangana Jagruti
and the UPF that the Congress government was pressured into introducing 42 per cent BC reservations in local bodies, education and employment.
However, she blamed both the NDA government at the Centre and the Congress regime in the State for deliberately stalling the implementation of the Bills. “They want to push the Bills into cold storage. We will not allow that,” she said.
UPF convener Sivashankar said both organisations will launch a mass awareness campaign to expose the alleged conspiracy by both governments.
“We will unite all BC communities and take this fight forward,” he added.
