Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy here on Thursday said that Telangana would get as many as three lakh Amphotericin doses for treating black fungus by this month end and another three lakh in June.

Speaking after visiting ENT hospital here, he said 11 companies in the country were producing Amphotericin and private hospitals would get the same medicine shortly. People should continue to follow the Covid-19 safety measures till everyone gets the vaccine by January.

He said there was no dearth of beds and oxygen cylinders in the country and the Central government was giving permission to the State governments within 24 hours to import vaccines

and injections from other countries. The 125-bed ENT hospital is now extending treatment to 250 patients.

“It is the responsibility of the family members to take care of the Covid patient in their family at their home as those suffering from prolonged illness are affected with the fungus,” Kishan Reddy said. He asked officials to take necessary measures to control the prices of essential commodities and action should be taken against those who indulge in black-marketing.

Referring to the ongoing strike of junior doctors, Kishan Reddy said the State government should settle the issue by resolving the justified demands of junior doctors.
