Union Home Minister Amit Shah will review the passing out parade of the 74th batch of Indian Police Service probationers at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad today. 

A total of 195 officer trainees, including 166 IPS officer trainees will be taking part in the Dikshant Parade. The remaining 29 officer trainees are from Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Mauritius police. Academy Director A S Rajan informed that 37 lady officers constituting 23 per cent of the total strength will be taking part in the Parade.

The parade will be commanded by Shahansha K S, of Kerala Cadre, who is the all-around topper. Mr. Rajan also said that the course module was prepared to take into consideration the current job requirements of police



officers in the country. He added that the 'Attitude Training' was given special importance during the course, enabling the officer trainees to develop a more sympathetic and victim-centric approach.

The Director further said that the indoor and outdoor exposures included Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code and special laws, forensics, information and communication technology, human rights, yoga, and unarmed combat so that the candidates could develop integrity and dedication towards their job and empathy towards victims.

For the first time, the NALSAR university will give post-graduation degrees to officer trainees and a diploma certificate to the officer trainees from foreign countries after completing their training.
