Angered by the Telangana Congress government’s failing to honour its own promise of recruitment of two lakh job vacancies, the unemployed youth announced ‘Chalo Assembly’, a protest programme, on March 26.

A large number of unemployed from across the State are expected to participate in the protest.

During the last elections to legislative assembly, the Telangana Congress party had assured the unemployed youth that it

would fill up two lakh job vacancies within one year into the government. In fact, the same promise was incorporated in the party’s manifesto.

However, more than two years have passed since the government has been formed yet no new recruitment notifications are issued.

In addition, Congress had also promised to extend Rs.4,000 per month to the unemployed till they secure a government job, which continued to remain unfulfilled.
