Two students of a BC welfare hostel at Mallial in Jagtial district drowned in a pond. According to police, an 11-year-old Class V student from Morthad in Nizamabad district, and a 10-year-old Class IV student from T.R. Nagar in Jagtial, had gone to the pond behind the hostel for a swim in the afternoon when they accidentally drowned. 

Both were studying at the Mallial mandal parishad school while staying in the BC welfare hostel.

Police rushed to the spot after receiving



information, retrieved the bodies from the pond and shifted them to the government hospital in Jagtial for post-mortem examination. Jagtial MLA Dr M. Sanjay Kumar visited the hospital and consoled the bereaved families. 

Family members of the deceased staged a protest, demanding that officials reveal the circumstances leading to the deaths. Seeking a comprehensive inquiry, they initially refused to accept the bodies until welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar visited the spot and clarified the incident.
