Two labourers were killed and eight others injured after a two storey building under construction collapsed at Film Nagar cultural centre in
Hyderabad
today. In this incident some 12 laborers were feared trapped under the debris, which the authorities were removing and trying to rescue those buried alive, officials said. According to sources, two-storey building was under construction and it was supposed to be made roof. Some workers have set up supportive pillars for making slab of the building.

Meanwhile, police, Fire Services and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials launched rescue operation. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) also joined the operation.

A GHMC official said that no permission was given for constructing of the building as the land's ownership was disputed and the case was pending in the court.

However, the building was collapsed today morning. A watchman who was posted at a residence near FNCC, where building was collapsed said he noticed some persons were



working inside and they were trapped under debris.

The deceased have been identified as Ansar Shaik of Kolkata and Anand from

Hyderabad
, both labourers. Local police said extra floors were being added above the existing two floors, when the building, located next to the Film Nagar Cultural Centre, suddenly collapsed, burying two people and injuring scores others. Three labourers are said to be trapped in the rubble, while three others are being treated at a local hospital.  

The design of the building is said to be the cause of the building’s sudden collapse. The plan was to build six storeys in all, and four floors had already been completed. At least 50 workers were engaged in the construction work and the slab work had been completed on Saturday night. The injured have been admitted to Apollo Hospital and some of their condition is said to be critical.
