In an ironic turn of events, two police inspectors from Rachakonda Police Cybercrime wing have reportedly fallen victim to sophisticated online fraud, losing substantial amounts of money in separate incidents.
In the first case, cyber fraudsters cheated an inspector of Rs 4 lakh by promising to arrange Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) darshan tickets. Trusting the offer made online, the inspector
transferred the amount, only to later realise that it was a well-planned fraud.
In the second incident, another inspector was lured into a fake stock trading investment scheme. The fraudsters added him to a so-called stock market investment group and convinced him that he would earn high returns. Over time, the inspector reportedly transferred nearly Rs 39 lakh before discovering that he had been deceived.
